Activities

All planning, activities and routines are linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.

To encourage child-initiated play, the majority of activities are easily accessible by the children, and they are encouraged to choose for themselves and put toys/books away when finished with.  All children have access to a wide choice of toys appropriate to their age and stage of development.

Some of the many play toys which the children can access include: construction (i.e. blocks, lego etc) small world toys, role play, tent & tunnel, puzzles, board games, arts and craft materials, dressing up clothes, dolls, musical instruments, junk modelling, playdough etc.

I have a large range of reading books (enough to open my own childrens library!!) covering all ages and interests and we have a book of the month activity book bag for our daily story and song time.  These activity book bags help to enhance the childrens learning and can be loaned to parents.

Outside, our garden is fully enclosed with patio area and large lawn, and easy access to outdoor toys and equipment, a fairy garden and a small child friendly vegetable patch.  We often take our play and activities out into the garden to enjoy the fresh air and get close to nature.  Eastham Country Park, Torr Park, and Happy Al's Farm are within a short walk.  We attend toddler groups several times a week and regularly meet up with other childminders and their children.
